Permanent Makeup care

Here’s what you need to know

Permanent cosmetics are a form of tattooing.

  • UNDERSTANDING THE RISKS & EXPECTATIONS

  • Nature of the Procedure: Permanent makeup involves the insertion of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin using sterile needles. It is a form of tattooing and should be considered permanent.

  • Inherent Risks: Potential risks include, but are not limited to, infection, allergic reaction to pigments or anesthetics, minor bleeding, swelling, bruising, redness, and scarring.

  • Fading and Changes: Pigments will fade over time due to sun exposure, skin type, lifestyle, and natural skin shedding. Color may change or shift over time. (but pigment will always be in skin).

  • The Healing Process: Immediately after the procedure, the color will appear significantly darker and bolder. The final, healed results will not be fully visible for 4 to 6 weeks.

  • Touch-Ups: Perfecting the results usually requires at least two sessions. Follow-up appointments are typically scheduled 4–8 weeks after the initial session and may incur an additional fee.

NO GUARANTEES & SUBJECTIVE RESULTS

  • I understand that facial symmetry, bone structure, and skin texture vary. While every effort will be made to achieve optimal symmetry and desired shape, absolute perfection is impossible to guarantee.

  • I agree that I have reviewed and approved the preliminary shape, design, and color selection drawn by the technician prior to the application of the permanent pigment.

  • I understand that this is an elective cosmetic procedure, results are subjective, on rare occasions the pigment may migrate under the skin, and no refunds will be issued under any circumstances.

AFTERCARE COMPLIANCE

  • I understand that failure to follow aftercare instructions (including picking scabs, exposing the area to sun/water prematurely, or applying unapproved products) can result in pigment loss, infection, or scarring, and will void any complimentary touch-up policies.

More to know…

  • Permanent cosmetics cannot be applied to pregnant women or nursing mothers or any person under the age of eighteen.

  • There may be immediate or delayed allergic reaction to pigments. However, allergic reactions are extremely rare. A negative allergy test result will not guarantee that you will not have an allergic reaction.

  • It is recommended that clients receiving treatment for eyeliner should have someone drive them home.

  • Corneal abrasion may occur during eyeliner procedures. However, corneal abrasion is rare.

  • Clients receiving lip procedures who have had previous problems with cold sores/herpes may have an outbreak following the procedure. Anti-herpes medication is available over the counter or on prescription and has been shown to prevent or minimize such outbreaks.

  • Camouflage procedures are experimental in nature. Camouflage procedures require skin colour matching tests before the procedure commences.

  • There are few effective methods for pigment removal.

  • If you have an MRI scan within 3 months of your permanent cosmetics procedure, we recommend that you discuss this with your doctor.

  • Possible scarring, inconsistency of colour and loss of eyelashes may occur.
